Yes!

Libby was convicted! Now, let's see if that sticks...

(You out a CIA agent, you may have killed at a minimum a dozen people, following a trail back to every foreigner the agent has worked with over the years. No sympathy for him here.)

DAMN! HE WAS?????

*see Julia dash over to CNN*

Well, this bites. No other charges to be brought? That's *IT*?????

ARGH!

I'm happy at the verdict, but I'm expecting a Presidential pardon. And I'd really like to see the people above him, who were definitely involved, get some fallout as well. Sigh.

However, with this administration we should savor any good news that shows up.

Looking forward to lots and lots more investigations. the Great American Prosecutor Purge is looking promising...

No other charges to be brought?

On the evidence they have so far. Note those last two words. In other words -- if Libby is ready to plea bargain with what he knows, the fat lady may sing for the Bush administration.

Or...there is speculation that Cheney will resign, to spare the administration any more poking around. Not perfect, but we live in an imperfect world.

I could live with resignation.

But then who will run the country? ;^)

[identity profile] juliabk.livejournal.com 2007-03-07 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
Interesting that there's a report that Cheney has a problem with blood clots due to Air Force 2 (or something along those lines). He may well be prepping for a resignation on health grounds.

Oh, dear, let's see... the Senate gets to nominate his replacement don't they? I think it's the Senate, but it could be the House.. I need to go look that up.

[identity profile] alfreda89.livejournal.com 2007-03-07 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
I think at this point if Bush pardons him, there will be marching in the street. And there's rumor that Cheney might resign, to sever the connection to the great Shrub.

The prosecutor's words were precise -- on the basis of what they have now, there will be no further charges brought. However -- I doubt the pres and VP can come up with a good reason why their cross-examination can't be released. And Libby can still plea bargain, if he gives the Big Gun something to work with.

I keep wanting to send a letter to Kay Bailey & Combed-Over -- hey! If you can indict a man for putting his dick in the wrong place, how about an indictment over a little treason, constitutional trashing and going to war to massage your ego? Over presenting false data to the Congress and public? Hummm?

[identity profile] juliabk.livejournal.com 2007-03-07 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, the President nominates and Congress approves.

Heh-heh-heh-heh

[identity profile] alfreda89.livejournal.com 2007-03-07 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
I thought Nixon chose Rockefeller after Agnew resigned (now there's a name that doesn't come easily to mind...) And then when Rocky died, Ford. Who then decided to pardon Nixon to save the country from a trial.

We should have tried the paranoid dummy -- then we might have had four more years of Ford, who was perhaps bland but a much better president than we knew at the time.

Wicked woman.

[identity profile] juliabk.livejournal.com 2007-03-07 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
Bitchface Bailey would send you back a form letter thanking you for supporting her efforts in Congress or some other stupid thing. Combed-Over (great name) won't even acknowledge your existence. Jerk.

[identity profile] juliabk.livejournal.com 2007-03-07 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Like you didn't already know that about me. :-)

[identity profile] mongo42.livejournal.com 2007-03-07 01:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Already sent a letter to Kay, and got a response stating that this is a totally different case and it's important for Congress to not interfere with the effectiveness of the executive branch like that. Graaah.

It's OK for right-wingers to break the law, just not the rest of us.

[identity profile] alfreda89.livejournal.com 2007-03-07 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
You've written to them, too!

ONE of the letters Kay's group sent back shows me she did SOMETHING I approved of in her six year tenure. But I will put up a yard sign for anyone halfway decent who will run against both of them.

You should check out Elizabeth's sff.net group (I can't remember if I see you there or not). She's had more than a few choice words to say about our 'illustrious' Senators. Ahem.

[identity profile] alfreda89.livejournal.com 2007-03-07 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe we should start writing to her and say: "So, this is a totally different case and it's important for Congress to not interfere with the effectiveness of the executive branch like that. May I offer a circumstance that might change your mind on this? President Hillary Clinton? President Barak Obama? When exactly will this become lying to the American people and must be overturned?"

[identity profile] alfreda89.livejournal.com 2007-03-07 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
No, I never go to any fan groups or streamers -- as far as I know, I don't have a fan link, either.

LJ and my lists are too much of a time sink. Don't need any more time sinks!

I didn't win the 370 mil -- I gotta make money!

If you get a minute, check out Elizabeth Moon's news group on sff.net. I do think you'd appreciate her comments. :-)

First I have to be thinking well enough to find the place...
