4 Bdrm House in South Austin for Rent

The house is on a residential street just off Manchaca and William Cannon, and has pecan trees in the front yard. It's an ~1800 sq. ft. 4 bedroom, 2 bath, 2 car garage with gas heat/new gas stove/water heater, has a utility room with w/d hookups, has a refrigerator (but you can bring your own). Carpet in living/dining/bedrooms, tiled entry and tiled kitchen/nook/utility. Ceiling fans in 3 bedrooms and main areas. The master is large enough to have a spacious sitting area, and has a larger bathroom/closet area than our new north house. The second bedroom is also nice-sized, with two kid/office sized bedrooms to finish up. It has nice curtains and is energy efficient.

The house is cable ready, and has a field of bluebonnets for its back yard in the spring -- which means you don't have to mow the back yard until the bluebonnets go to seed and snap!

We would ask $1500 a month plus deposits -- you would be responsible for utilities, cable, phone and yard. You will need to pay a small fee for a credit check, etc. A pet is allowed with a deposit, but there is currently no fence.

je regret, too much space, and too far away. Otherwise....

We've been trying to rent it for several months. We even tiled the kitchen, in an attempt to upside it. No takers. W doesn't want to run an ad in the paper, so I will probably talk to a realtor if no one bites soon on the ads we have outstanding.

I assume you've tried Craig's list?

I just found out that my nephew and his wife are moving to Austin so he can go to seminary. They're both planning to be employed, I believe. I'll pass this on to them.

I may disagree wtih their religious views, but I'd certainly be willing to lease to them... can't say that for all my family. :-)

ON a different note entirely...

I read this and remembered you having sweet potato cravings. It doesn't have flour so maybe you can actually eat it. :)

Actually, no. W is a "Six degrees of separation" sort of landlord.

The problem in a nutshell is, he lived in this house for 23 years and took VERY good care of it. It is no longer his residence, but since it's paid for, if we had to contract, we could move back in. And it is A) no longer his focus but B) still too involved in old memories to let people treat it the way some people treat rentals.

As I said to him, "Few renters are as good to a property as you and I were..."

That is a lovely rec. Is it the Presbyterian seminary, or another?

I'll try it! Thanks for thinking of me.

Hope the test weeks from hell have calmed down. (I'm at least 40 posts behind everyone, tyook off today and then fell into someone's essays on 1977 bad fantasy, and just surfaced.)

We're discussing haunting yard sales and pawn shops to get a fry baby so I can learn to make my own sweet potato fries...

I went down yesterday to scope it out. Looking good, but some of the grout sank, so Mike will fix that when he gets back from his "visiting the folks" trip.

The Cecilie Brunner in the back yard has gone nuts, it owns the fence!

I need to cut the bushes back farther than Mike did...
