Oh, I hate serial cat crises...

I have this private theory that the universe gives us pets so we can learn to love and lose, when friends and parents/sibs start disappearing.

Could Hillary be rolling over to diabetic? I know cats can swing back and forth that way, on meds one day, their system working fine the next week. Hope you will be spared this year.

It never is easy. I had hoped for at least one more good year before he'd become frail. It was a shock earlier this year, when the younger Burmese, Merlyn, had his creatinine pop a couple of digits. The food is still working for him -- he's in the master bedroom yelling at the squirrels on the roof! But he spent the day looking for Max. It's gonna be hell around here when I lose the first -- because they have always had at least one other cat around, as opposed to Maisie, who has been an only cat from her youth. Hard as the missing cat is, the bewilderment of the remaining cats is heartbreaking.
