I am a writer, not a financial person, so take what I'm about to say with a grain of... creativity?
If at all possible, I'd split up the money. Some in the money market, some in savings, bulk in checking. That way if something heinous goes wrong in one place, there's some back up somewhat more secure than digging a hole in the backyard (which may be difficult to do in an apartment...)
