Flag worship??? One time I memorized the Preamble, however my brain has grown more leaky with the years. Guess I ought to brush up.
I emphasized 'promising' because many leftists make a great big deal out of resenting the fact we aren't some kind of ideological utopia yet, but instead they'll endlessly harp on very very well-known sins of the past, and imperfections of the present. Then look toward alleged promises not yet fulfilled, however without an accurate understanding of human nature, those same folks sure aren't going to get us much improvement; quite the opposite.
I guess you and I are on rather different wavelengths, look at the world through diverging mental polarizations, and such. Makes it a big challenge to converse. :-/
