Too little sleep, or too much light at night, can make you fat

They keep finding out more reasons that humans may gain weight or hold on to fat cells. Some of them may surprise you -- like an adenovirus (the common cold) that boosts the number of fat cells in the body?

Seriously.

Fat used to be a good thing. Most of us are survivors from ancestors who got fat to survive famine stricken times. Gaining fat meant survival. The ones with the skinny genes were probably descended from royalty that didn't have to work or worry too much for a living because someone else would carry the load. It's hard to remember even when we are poor we live in abundance compared to olden times.

Very true!

I don't forget it. I just want those genes to sleep unless it's critical for them to kick into high gear.

Right now my body thinks it's under attack from everything, which is making eating interesting, to say the least.
