Aspiring Writers Info: Ten Tips for a Terrific Antagonist

I thought this article had some good suggestions for crafting a good, solid antagonist. We always joke about how every bad guy is the hero of his own story, but it's true -- people always have good reasons for what they're doing.* They always are looking for the best outcome for themselves.

The trick, of course, is that often they're using limited imagination. And their positive intention is definitely not positive for others!

* Unless they're nuts. But that's a special antagonist and a different writing challenge!

I try to remember to post the really good ones. Some days I feel like I'm aspiring, too! Glad it was interesting to you.

I pretty much always feel I'm aspiring. One day a book will come out the way it is in my head...

Oh, yes. I have never had one come out the way I see it in my head. I have hopes for a short story I am mentally crafting, but it's an art I have not yet learned.
