Detached floppy drives?

So -- my friend who has my Dell tower, trying to determine if it can be saved/get a new drive (dual drive system) is so busy he either hasn't had time to check the drive or is swamped at one of his two major jobs. He's avoiding my emails. I need to update an ancient web site soonest. I had a mental blip and forgot to get a floppy drive in the new laptop. So --

Suggestions? What would be a good, reasonably priced floppy drive USB add-on for a Toshiba Satellite S955 laptop?

The problem is, my Dreamwever 3 is on a floppy. No, I don't want to spend a fortune on the latest version. I'm moving my stuff to WordPress, most likely. This site will be leaving to WordPress this year, too. But not yet. They have a big interview on CNN coming up -- I really want to update their FMRs.

Alfreda, who will be visiting Fry's in the next couple of days....

Do you have a local friend with a floppy drive? Because my suggestion would be to borrow hardware to load it onto more current media... and then be done with the floppy. Even a library might have the equipment.

forget to get a floppy drive in the new laptop

get an external plug in for the new laptop, or pay some geek to get the floppies converted into a thumb drive.

This was the logical person to ask. A professional company will not move the program onto a flash drive, even when you have the paid-for diskette in your hand.

But -- maybe he would answer if I asked him if we could move the program from a floppy to a CD? I'll try -- thanks for the reminder!

They won't move it from tower to flash drive. I am desperately searching moving boxes for the floppies.

I bought this one which works via USB at a point I still thought I'd use my old 1.44 floppies. It's by Samsung.
The thing is called SFD-321U/EP

Here's a driver for it, seemingly, but one came with mine

It's on Amazon.com

I have an external floppy drive from SanDisk which works like a charm.

Light a candle -- preferably St Anthony's one that you have somewhere but if its in hiding, at least offer up a few prayers to him ... I will see if I can find my tiny, dear-to-me, old, old laptop.

Caveat: It cannot be used to browse ANYWHERE else on the internet, too impossible to secure it vs viruses .. and it may not even run Dreamweaver ... but if I can find it, and if it works, then you can borrow it for this short adventure.

I'm a bit twitchy about it, I'll explain in person :) he's my baby!

It was XP. I sent a message to my friend asking about scanning or making a copy of the floppy if/when I find it. Maybe he will take pity on me and give me a working machine back. He's so busy, I cannot rag him about it. He was going to see if an older drive he no longer used would replace the dead drive. Can't push on something like that.

I will light up for floppy AND my machine! (I have found BOTH of my candles -- how's that for need?)
