Passing this along . . . more on the Patriot Act
Pinched this from
noiseinmyhead. Read this link--it's important, as the Patriot Act is about to go live once again.
Pay too much and you could raise the alarm
From the article:
"We're a product of the '60s," he said. "We believe government should be way away from us in that regard."
He was referring to the recent decision by him and his wife to be responsible, to do the kind of thing that just about anyone would say makes good, solid financial sense.
They paid down some debt. The balance on their JCPenney Platinum MasterCard had gotten to an unhealthy level. So they sent in a large payment, a check for $6,522.
And an alarm went off. A red flag went up. The Soehnges' behavior was found questionable.

Bank of America lost 30K of my husband's business' deposits.
As it was a *federal* institution, we contacted the FBI.
We were told that due to the Patriot Act, the FBI did not investigate bank problems that involved less than 250K.
We tried several other legal resourses. Nope. We are really and truly fooked.
There's an article on the whole debacle in this week's Austin Chronicle (also avalable for those of you not local to Austin Texas. The story headlines the 'news' section).
We should all be truly frightened.

Yes, I'd asked SP how that went several months ago, and she hadn't heard of or didn't feel free to report anything. I REALLY feel for you, and will no longer use night drops for any businesses I'm involved with. I sure hope the article flushes out others who were victimized. I can't believe BoA is ducking this...I was wondering if they have suspicions, and are trying to trap someone?
Am now buying all my gaming/comics gifts from the Austin store!
