In the midst of a bad day

When you're having a bad day, and every stitch of work takes ten times as long, a little browsing can come in handy. Via www.andrewsullivan.com, I stumbled into Tom McMahon's blog. Tom's 8 year old son suffered a severe brain injury fifteen years ago today, and Tom's family has dealt with that ever since.

There was a lot packed into a few comments of bullets. Everyone might benefit from it, but here's something I needed today.

Every year baseball teams start spring training with visions of the World Series in their heads. And every year about May or June it's obvious to several of those teams that it ain't gonna happen. But they still play out the season. Your Big Lifetime Dream smashed to bits? You still gotta play out the season. Try to set the base-stealing record, or the record for triples, or the record for pinch-hit singles with two men out and runners in scoring position. Find the game within the Game, and play that.

And now, I need to make a phone call. My brain may be out on vacation again, or lost in the Andes, but a friend had a surprise surgery sprung on her today, and I think I'll call and try to find out how things went.

I am sorry you are having a bad day. :( If I am in the neighborhood do you mind knocks on the door?

(and if you see a forsale sign on any houses near you let me know...)

No, right now, as long as there isn't another car besides my dented Protege (client visiting), quick visits are probably okay. I was just mush for brains--fortunately did not screw up the web site I was working on. And I overworked my hand yesterday, so it was a painkiller day.

I'll keep an eye peeled for signs. Anything in particular, or do you just want to see whatever pops up?
