Turning this around is going to be very difficult. We're not only headed downhill economically, but if you look at the state of our education system we're turning out citizens with poor knowledge and skill sets compared to Europe and Asia. Fixing that has to be the number one long-term priority.

I agree. It's got to be in the top five -- apparently 1/3 of high school students don't graduate. We're going to be a country of heavy "haves" at the pinnacle and a huge "have-nots" group at the bottom of the pyramid if we're not careful.

And we, the overall "middle class" (lower, middle and upper) will be paying for it all, if we don't reverse the trend where industry pays 6% taxes (used to be about 50-50 some thirty years ago).
