Can't turn your back on them . . .
I was playing cat chess, re-arranging them for the afternoon (Maisie into the utility room for her meat and a nap in her basket, the boys have the freedom of the rest of the house) and of course Merlyn had to play up to SP, who was having a tour of things my sisters ruthlessly micro-managed in their attempts to unpack boxes. Meanwhile, Max headed for the warmest room, my office (even with AC on -- he just avoids the blowers.) And what did he find?
The silky snake I just took off the flowers my sister sent for my birthday. He had the curling ribbon three inches down his throat by the time I caught up to him.
He now looks quite annoyed. He wanted to finish that snake off himself, thank you!
I am going out to Jeffrey's for dinner tonight with W and three good friends. This is one of the few $$$$ in town that deserves its reputation. I called yesterday to see if they could deal with my food issues, and they say they can do it. (Going on Wednesday makes it easier for them, I imagine.)
But first, to the bank to see if my box holds the nonfiction contracts. I'm trying to finish up the copyright lawsuit junk. They want to know what I was originally paid for a nonfiction article 15 years ago. Oh, yeah, right -- divorced, three moves. new bank account and major illness. Like I know that? I can guess on a lot of them -- because reprints were 50% of original, and I found some of it -- but one last look for the papers.

Happened to a good friend; her Maine Coon adored curling ribbon.

I fear I always go for flourless chocolate cakes first. Then there's always creme brulee/flan, or cheesecake without that blasted teaspoon of corn starch (to keep it from cracking. I say, let it crack! We'll cover it with fruit and whipped cream!)
I am convention-ing this weekend, at Conmisterio, the local mystery convention. I need to check on some live journals -- I'm behind!
