It is sad that he will not be able to finish his work -- especially if he had more than the last book to be finished. [livejournal.com profile] kateelliott believes that Wheel of Time was important to him, and I am glad to hear that, because it would have been a double tragedy if it wasn't important. I don't care what they pay you -- if you don't like what you write, it all goes downhill from there.

I loved Tolkien, and looked for good series for a long time. Then I got involved with Life, so I must read series slower than before. And a monster has been breeding in the back of my mind, so I may someday join the ranks of BIG writers.

It's easy to throw stones. It's harder to keep people coming back -- in hardback, no less -- for more.

So let us lift our glasses to another writer gone this year, just too many, starting with Jayge Carr last December. We have the work of their hands to value, and I hope that somewhere, every one of them is missed, and what they left us cherished.

It's all some of us get. And it just may be enough.
