This Friday, April 25, 2008, BookPeople will host a mass autographing by forty-five members of SFWA, the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America. This event will take place in the Longhorn Room on the 3rd floor of the Omni Hotel Downtown. The authors will sign from 5:30 pm – 8:00 pm. The general public is welcomed and encouraged to attend. This event is free and open to the public. The Omni Hotel Downtown is located at 700 San Jacinto, which is the corner of 8th Street.
The international writer’s group is having its 2008 Nebula Awards Weekend at the invitation of ALAMO ( Austin Literary Arts Maintenance Organization), a 501(c) 3. ALAMO, Inc. is organized for the purposes of promoting the understanding and appreciation of the literary fields of fantasy, science fiction and horror, and to provide a forum for the free discussion of the ideas and concepts associated with these literary fields.
The writers attending the Nebula convention range from Neal Barrett, Jr.’s quality craziness through award-winning authors Elizabeth Moon, Michael Moorcock, and Connie Willis. Popular writers such as Joe E. Lansdale, who writes in Fantasy, SF, Horror, Mystery and anything else that amuses him, will also be in attendance.
The convention will continue through Saturday, April 26th.
