Then why am I so insecure about my vocabulary?

Your Vocabulary Score: A+

Congratulations on your multifarious vocabulary!
You must be quite an erudite person.

Because, like me, you haven't yet memorized the dictionary?

I don't feel insecure about my vocabulary. It's my grammar and punctuation that terrify me. I still write and punctuate sentences according to how they sound as I read them. The comma is not my friend, and I am not on speaking terms with semicolons.

Oh, yes. The em-dash and en-dash are my demons, and punctuating around quotes and periods are not friendly to me.

I did feel like I should know all the words set before me. Now, I try to use at least one new word correctly in any new project.

I've had a Taiwanese fan use my SF to learn vocabulary...

A- for me, which means the test was too easy, as I am actually a bad vocabulary person (though I've gotten better).

I'm the kind of person to use a word, and then verify that I've used it correctly. (It's nice having [livejournal.com profile] sparkylibrarian around.)

Yes, I do that, too. My biggest thing is pronunciation. If I learn it incorrectly for a word, it takes me time to re-learn the correct way to say the word.

Ah, whenever I mispronuncicate something horribly, I just pretend I did it on purpose and am just trying to be cute. I also have a slight stuttering issue with certain s/p/f combinations. I was about 20 when I could say sophisticated on the first attempt.

I hate knowing that I know a word but can't remember it. I know it's all down there somewhere, but the brain is not so good at retrieval from the master database.

Seriously...

A lot of times I feel like a card catalog that has been upended. And getting stuff back into order will take time...
