Ok, this is SO wrong...Wal-Mart forfeits its visit from me --

I know I can't tell someone what they can do with their property, and they shouldn't be able to tell me what to do with mine. This is also why taking a local paper is a good idea -- if I did, I would have known about this last June. I don't, because I would lose two hours a day to reading large parts of the paper. But here's the bitch:

We're talking a 2-story Wal-Mart as one of the new shops, right in the middle of Allendale.

ARGGHH!

If anyone reading thinks that this is a horrible revitalization
plan there's a group called Responsible Growth for Northcross. They're having a meeting this Thursday, November 30, at the Grace Church of the Nazarene at 7 p.m.

I'm already booked heavily on Thursday, but I guess I should add that putting a 24 hour Wal-Mart in the middle of this bustling area I patronize will probably kill Allendale. And I am POed...

Oh -- and have I mentioned that there's talk of an 11 STORY building going up on Jollyville?!

What's the address for the Grace Church?

According to Google...

I wasn't able to go, but would love to hear about it, or hear more on this subject, if you learn more.

I heard about it through HerDomain -- I'll keep an eye out for it.

Ye gods. I don't blame them for not wanting that at the mall! I don't know why Wallyworld has to be so obnoxious about wanting to move into places they're so obviously not wanted.

$$$ Talks --

People look at the money they save going to Wal-Mart, and see 400 new jobs. A lot of people don't understand that each Wal-Mart costs taxpayers hundreds of thousands yearly in off-setting their "can't pay for anything but the rent" policy with employees.

So Wal-Mart can be welcomed by some people -- but not the ones closest to it, or the ones in the know.

The developers won, unfortunately.

Sympathies. I suppose some people use these places -- all they're succeeding in doing is driving me to Internet sales.
