The wind is rising...
I've been battening down the hatches for the storm.
I went out and got the potting soil and peat, and put them inside -- so they don't blow all over the pool! Nothing left but metal furniture and a couple of pots. (I'm very POed at the lawn service. Their enthusiasm for trimming close to my pots means all the plastic ones have huge, gaping holes in their sides. Need to hit Home Depot in the next two days, or Red Barn, and pick up some). If I'd noticed sooner, I could have gotten them from Barton Springs Nursery -- I was south for a doctor today. Tonight a low of 38 -- but tomorrow a high of 43. Definitely icky. A few moments ago the fingers on my right hand told me that the storm line was approaching. Weird how sometimes I know days in advance, and other times not until it's very close.
I meant to use the hot tub, but we're talking thunder and now rain -- doesn't look like it will happen tonight!
Tomorrow/today will be busy. Doc appt. sometime in the AM (I booked FOUR doctor appts this week, through Saturday AM -- figured if I had enough for deductibles, I might as well see everyone, even things insurance won't touch such as eye exams). Found my lady who did a little extra research on LBb before I came in. Since she's moved to Buda, I might have to leave her -- she's only in Austin on Saturdays, and south at that. We'll see how this appt. goes.
1minnesotagirl and her Mom are supposed to come up tomorrow afternoon for a visit. I hope they think to bring the card games -- I don't have as many as they do! Then dinner to celebrate
tia_tarina's 50,000 words for NaNo! Afterward, who knows?
1minnesotagirl may arrive to stay awhile as soon as tonight -- we'll discuss today.
Must check and see when appt. is, and find a hole in time to go get nibblies. We do tea and cookies (although I will also be offering
1minnesotagirl Haralson apples -- she said the crop was not good this year, so she couldn't get a bushel for applesauce. She can have one, at least!)
Have been examining disability, which I dread only slightly more than a job interview during Lyme Fog. I found out I'm not eligible for my Ex's disability. Worse -- I'd get only 33% of his SS for retirement. That's $400. That would be useful, oh yes -- no wonder most elderly women live in poverty. Disgraceful. Glad I should have SOME resources by then. My disability would not be princely, but it would pay for insurance and some doctors/drugs. With luck, I will get money back this year on the taxes. I have to get the stress levels down, or I won't heal.
I plan to spend part of Friday writing. Maybe, getting the tree out? We'll see -- low stress is my mantra. Costco had gorgeous, reasonably priced tasteful wreaths that required no augmentation from me. Sweet!
Nice 10 inch Zygocactus were $24.00, the hanging pots $47.00! (At a wholesaler who also sells to the public.) I remember paying $25.00 for a nice Xmas cactus 10 years ago. That one still lives, but had a hard year -- Maisie likes to snip pieces off it. It is begging for repotting, but must get another hanging basket for what's left!
And in passing -- does anyone know what the half-life of amitriptyline is ?

Serious yuck -- we had a high of 38, I think, and 21 wind chill. Dropping tonight. We're going out as soon as W gets home, but maybe in two cars?
I didn't intend to make this post totally public -- do you want to be on the private list? I have a private "Guess what this weird disease is doing now" list. I haven't posted for two months, but I tend to wait until any crisis is past before actually talking briefly about it.
Haven't read journals in five days, lots of catching up to do...
