Wishing I had Christie's talent for moggies...

We've got a cute, fluffy, light-coated cat out on the front doorstep singing her heart out. Merlin just yowled at her, so she's paused for breath. W went to bed so he couldn't hear her. This afternoon I thought I saw a sign when entering the sub-division about lost white something -- we'll check tomorrow to see if someone is looking for her. She's much too friendly to be a stray.

At any rate, she is convinced that THIS is the house she should belong to. W gets all his cats this way. But we still have cats at war, and although we joke about a new cat or a dog to unite them against the newcomer, this probably would be a bad idea.

I confess, I took her some California Natural crunchies on a paper plate. Had to go out the office door and around. And of course she followed me, after being startled I wasn't W. (She almost got in this afternoon while he was talking to our fix-it man, Mike Debellis.) I walked her back to the crunchies, waited until she decided I couldn't get in, either, and started eating. W came to the door because he heard me. I asked him to tap on the window to keep her attention a moment, and then bolted for the back yard door.

She's the second sweetheart I've seen. There's a beautiful calico wandering around, too. Wish I had the secret vibes for multiple cats!

Sleep would be a good idea....

We already have three -- my two boys, and W's Maisie. I keep thinking that if I can get well, their stress levels will drop low enough to tolerate each other. But not yet...

Has she said how she does it? Maybe she's a cat whisperer!

Not sure --

She has about a dozen, and somehow she keeps the pack from killing each other, and they all get attention. Maybe she is a cat whisperer!

Our house is, oddly, a magnet for bull mastifs. I've had three (over about 10 years) sort of move in under the skunk bush (except for the one that dug INTO the dog pen.) I found the owners in all three cases and even collected a $50 reward on one. Tried to refuse, but it was dad taking care of the kids dog while they were on vacation, and I got the distinct impression he wasn't going to mention doggy's own little vacation to them. Hush money!

That's a first!

[livejournal.com profile] sheilagh pointed me over here. My own cat just went missing - do you live in South Austin?

Nope --

North Austin. We see several cats on the property -- I think the Siamese and the fluffy orange cat belong to someone -- also the long-haired silver cat. But the medium/long tortie and the shorthair calico look like strays. The singer wasn't out there today -- she was white medium fluff with several pale patches on her fur.

What section of town are you in? A friend just lost her calico/tabby mix sweetheart..

Location, location...

Northwest -- a couple miles from Duval and 183.

Drat.

And she commented directly, so now she knows you're not near her location. Thank you, though!

You are as big a softie as I am. I once had two cats at one time. The new one bonded to the older one and only tolerated us. Then we got the dog and she decided she hated us. I was cursed in kitty every morning. Sometimes kitty bonding is not a good thing. Dern beasties can gang up on you.

I'd settle for tolerating...
