Talk about close calls...

Writer Kate Douglas and her husband were moving possessions out of a house they no longer live in. They had literally been sitting on the truck tailgate, etc. talking about whether to sell the truck right before this happened. Fortunately, he was already at the other end of the house and she, when she heard cracking, feared a limb was falling and bolted into the house. Even getting as far as the kitchen, she still had plaster and debris raining down on her.

The first thing he said after it was all over and they were both safe was on the lines of "Well, I guess we won't need to sell the truck!"

Hard not to believe in divine guidance, or at least good karma, when something like this happens.

I love big trees, but this does make me look upon the ash slowly dying in the front yard in a different light.

That was a big tree....

I hope that they aren't having too much time explaining this one to the insurance adjuster!

"Now, what happened to your -two- cars again?"

As you can see, their daughter got there with a camera and snapped away.

The other car was MUCH newer and loved, so that was a pain. Not sure it's repairable.
