My name was 118th in the '60s when I was born. Oddly enough, that was the peak for it in the date range they're tracking.

Lots of variations of "Katharine" but mine is not on the scope for much of the century. (A family spelling, although Katharine Hepburn's family used the same.)

My niece Danielle (19) was born in the big Danielle push of the 80s. I remember when I told my sister that Danielle was one of the top ten names for girls, she was as steamed as if I'd caused it to happen. I pointed out that Danielle Steel was a bestselling author -- what did she expect?

Danielle, the girl's name, has dropped like a rock since its peak years and doesn't make top 20 anymore.

Ellan is also a family spelling and doesn't even show up. :-)

I didn't know that was the spelling -- is it Irish/Scottish?

South Texan. :-)

My great aunt (born ~1890) got tired of South Texas accents that turned "Ellen" into "Ellin". By shifting the last vowel, it encouraged something much closer to "Ellen" when spoken by South Texans. ;-) In my world (it's also my middle name, btw), "Ellan" and "Ellen" are pronounced the same way... and without the dreaded short "i" before the "n". ;-)

That she was. Auntie Lou (no, I have no idea where that came from) was something. Tossed her no-good husband out in the 30s; raised her three sons on her own; was a Suffragette before that; lived to 105. All of her sons did very well for themselves, too.

Cheers for Auntie Lou!

Mine was real popular in the 1980's...up to 180. But it's dropped down to around 340 now.

I know an Adrienne in her 30s. She's named her daughters Indigo and Jadite...

When I was teaching, at one point, I think I had an Adrienne, an Adrian, and an Adriana or two all in the same year. That was early '90's, so I just that bears out the rising popularity in late 70's early 80's. :)
