Down various paths, I have heard a horrible rumor -- that SF writer Michael Bishop's son Jamie taught German at Virginia Tech, and that doesn't sound good, with the terrible dark story being written as we move through our lives.

Whether this is true or not, there are spirals of people who will be grieving for a long time to come. It's time to set a match to a candlewick, folks, and ask for more light.

Unfortunately, one of the students reported that his professor, Herr Bishop (he taught German) was shot. It is true. He died in the attack.

It's a terrible, senseless act.
