Meet a useless cat, and smile. Perhaps they are diplomats negotiating?

I've seen this series before, and it's still funny! For several years, I had a variety of rodents as pets, and my kitty Charlie loved the hammies, in a "family not food" kind of way. One of my hammies escaped from her cage (before I discovered I had to bunjee it closed), and I found hammy and Charlie curled up asleep, perfectly happy. I think Charlie was a little put out that I had disturbed her beauty rest when I scooped up the hammy to put her back in her cage.

I remember when my miniature dachshund was best friends with a doberman. We were afraid he'd accidentally break her by stepping on her... .

I had a cat like that once, but the rat was a white one. Kitty would play with Rat's tail, like chasing string.

Reminds me of the rat that could not be touched in Elizabeth Peters' book DEVIL-MAY-CARE. String sounds about right!
