Darwin is retiring --

That's "Darwin" my 1996 Mazda LX. It's been a good little car, but a new transmission would be $2100 (actually rebuilt -- the cost for new cannot be repeated out loud...) plus there's a flutter in a valve. 99,000 miles+ . So -- I will call the local HS tomorrow and see if they want a donated Mazda for their auto shop. Not a sexy car, but full of mechanical and body shop work to be learned.

And its successor is...? A 1996 Toyota Camry 4 door sedan! Champagne colored, of course.

And yes, in this case, it not only was owned by a little old lady, she was the mother of a very good friend, and a friend of mine herself. I have given her daughters a fair price for a car with 49,500 miles on it. And now, it remains to figure out how to re-attach the Darwin fish and the Flying Spaghetti Monster plaque, name the car, learn the details of the car (does it have cruise control?) and decide which bumper stickers taped in my windows will travel to the next stage in life.

Plus, I have the Making Light bumper sticker, and it must go somewhere!

Tomorrow -- registration, or, Texas takes its cut.

And Happy Truck to you as well! I hope your finances are flowing a bit better this year -- being able to buy the truck for the farm, which of course is its job most of the time, should be a great help to you.

Mine came from savings -- hoping to see an improvement in energy and focus soon, so I can go to the next stage of recovery. And replace the money in savings.
