1.5 million toys are being recalled because of lead paint.

I'm starting to think that I won't be buying any critical use items from China...

sigh, I passed this around to the coworkers with kids, thanks from them all.

Your right about avoiding stuff from China, but the problem is telling it came from there. I heard somewhere that China has almost cornered the market on vitamin C and some of the common additives in multi-vitamins. Even if you look for the "made in the USA" label, the source of the ingredients might be China.

It's enough to make you start wearing tin foil hats and growing your own food!

I don't know about tin foil hats, but a veggie garden is looking better and better. I'm already growing herbs in pots.

That is very disturbing about Vitamin C. I buy a lot of vitamins/supplements from companies that only sell through medical practitioners, but one of the most important -- coriolus -- comes from a Chinese source. It's something like $25 a pop.

There's a Japanese version, too, put together in a different form. But it's $60 a bottle.

Arrrgghh....

This makes me glad that Buddy was never that into Thomas. He and Princess have always been content to take special excursions to Barnes and Noble and play with the Thomas set-up that they have there.

I'm so glad I don't have any kids to buy things for right now. I'd have to go the route one couple has gone -- they don't own a TV, even for Dad to occasionally watch something. So they cut off that one level of bombardment against their boys.

They can watch TV if at a friend's home -- but they don't center their life around it. They are very inventive kids, and the older one is becoming a great soccer player!
