'Nake triumphant!

I was emptying leaves out of the Kraken today (a Polaris pool cleaner, and highly recommended) and as I walked back past the steps in the shallow end, I saw a greenish snake just over a foot English long, with a white stripe on his sides and a yellow on his top -- over yellow and black checks/scales -- wiggling his little heart out trying to find the place out of the pool. Well, he had no rattles, and I was very brazen -- I just scooped up his tail and zipped him out to the concrete. He wiggled once, thought about it, and then zipped over to the dry leaves by the stone flower bed, where he slithered along and is undoubtedly under the deck staking out new territory.

I am a snake wrangler! Did not even shake!

(It looked like kin of the one in the garage...)

I will do daddy long-legs, and small jumping spiders, and tarantulas with proper containers.

Don't do strange spiders. Only family....

Well, I'm not handling any of them. More legs than 4 or less than 2, I'm not playing. So no spiders, no snakes. nope. none.

Who cn we get for spider wrangler?

W will handle it. The only catch is, will he take time to scoot them outside, or will he squish them.

Ok, you're gonna hate me, but if they are inside, he can squish 'em. After the spider bite this summer, I'm becoming more rigid about dealing with spiders.

Understandable. And you can imagine how I feel about ticks....

Ticks die no matter where they are. Ticks---ick, ick, ick, ugh. Hate ticks.

Yes -- I fear I am prejudiced against ticks -- it's death by association. They make flies look clean in comparison.

It was a checkered garter snake.

Snakes with long stripes are totally, perfectly safe. The most they'll do is pee and musk on you if you hold them too tightly.

On behalf of the snakes, thanks for the save!

He was very pretty! They can have all the small munchies they can catch. I hate to find dead critters in the skimmer. He was doubly lucky, since I hadn't shocked for five days. The chlorine didn't get him.

Time to take 5HTP and see if it helps me sleep. You try to sleep, too!

Go you! I'm sure that the snake says the same thing!
