Catching up...
Texas Renaissance Faire was colorful, energetic, very humid and fairly hot--only B dressed up, but he was drool-able. N bought a new dress, cotton velvet! ARGHH! But very lovely. I thought she looked like a fairy in her flower wreath and gauzy short sleeved top--wish I'd taken a pic early. Got lots of clove soap from Devonshire Incense and Apothecary--my favorite. M and I almost died of ragweed.
It poured before we got there, so we had to watch out for mud. I always find RF overwhelming, and am easily led where others want to go. We didn't make a single demo, which I think W would have enjoyed. I would have enjoyed it, too--but got to chat with friends (one who did not drink enough water and became ill--remain hydrated!) eat meat on a stick (others did their Scotch eggs) and get my cards read, a TRF tradition--either cards or palms. **Very** humid and hot, so I wasn't in the mood to try on clothing--otherwise, Boss Wench might have tempted me. Dra has some painted shirts and skirts and the far location--but they're well over $200 a piece. I have a lab test to get run, so now Dra this year--sigh....

The soap is divine, but I have a spasmed masseter from two nights of mouth breathing--how embarrassing. I work on it when it occurs to me, the muscle bundles are confused, some contracted, some stretched--so it will take time.
There WILL be synopsis progress today.... (Writer subconscious looks guilty, the Chef looks smug about Bombay Chukka and Texmati Rice for dinner last night and killer wasabi deviled eggs.)
One massage down, one to go.

I have an old history with both Devonshire Incense and Devonshire Apothecary, so I'm curious which one you bought from, or if they've combined (which would shock me, though DA has sold DI's stuff).
When I was 10 or 11 Hershberger, who makes DI, took me to Ren Faire to sell for him. I worked Scarborough Faire too. Hersh met my dad when my dad was 20 or so - said his first glimpse of him, my dad's friends thought it'd be funny to drive off while my dad was still in the parking lot, so Hersh's first view was of my dad leaping into the window of a moving volkswagon, kicking his way in half in and half out, cursing all the way as the car squealed off.
Hersh makes killer oil of attraction, mixes them under a full moon. They're quite effective.
but the my intro to Ren Fair was the year before Hersh took me, when my friend L's dad took us to Scarborough (in one of its first years) to sell iced herbal tea. He was trying to branch out from his Devonshire Apothocary, but he was ahead of his time and the tea didn't sell very well. (His in Austin store was Herbs Etc on 6th street). I worked for him off an on a couple years too. Eventually he remarried and divorced, and his ex wife got the business. She runs it now. I don't go in often because of some bad blood (on my side anyway) and that's a pity, because its a cool shop.
