Halloween comes early, and I'm scared....

I don't think it's been doctored, but I don't know. I got it through a blog, one of the ones written by a current mainstream journalist who has his own site as well. Do I remember which one? No--go Google it, silly, I've found it and seen it and I'm concerned.
I remember the first debate--I was a supporter of the incumbent, and although I did not support Bush, I was not frightened of his gaining office...not as I was after seeing what he did to Texas in a few short years. The Bush of that debate and the Bush of the most recent debates seem poles apart.
I remember this letter to The Atlantic being mentioned a while ago--this is one medical doctor's opinion, but he wrote it to a national, so he must believe it. I've heard from someone who works with alcoholics daily that Bush exhibits the signs of a "dry drunk", as in someone who has dried up but still exhibits the obsessive behavior of an alcoholic. Another LJ reader mentioned not long ago that she works with alcoholics as well, and she thinks Bush has started drinking again.
What else could have happened to age this man thirty years in ten, and cause him to lose his ability to speak articulately? Is this merely the tremendous stress of the presidency, which turned LBJ's hair white? Could he have had a series of mini-strokes? Does he have early onset Alzheimer's? Is he ADHD with a touch of Tourette's, another theory I've seen suggested? Could simply protecting him from any doubters or dissenters for four years cause such stumbling insecurity?
Whatever it is, this comparison of Bush then and now is rather frightening... I'd sure like an explanation of it.
