I always use Amex for travel. Since there is no pre-set spending limit, the hotel charges never interfere with buying meals or other purchases. Having to pay things off at the end of the month also helps with financial discipline.

Plus, every dollar I spend gives me a frequent flyer mile I can use with the airline of my choice.
