This was one of the things that started the revolutionary war.

Not enough people understand about this yet. It's up to the media to scream to the heavens. If they don't, we've lost democracy.

This blip of Bill Moyer's speech says it all --

It will be interesting to see what MOVE ON.ORG does....

I have often wondered what the experience was like for those who lived when the Roman Republic transformed itself into the Empire. I devoutly hope that I do not learn by personal experience.

I can't help but wonder...

You remember how Bush was boasting that we could not leave Iraq? That it would take a generation to do so? I've noticed a few writings lately about Abu Ghraib -- things that make the humiliations small potatoes. Has Obama finally seen the heart of darkness, and is no longer sure he can protect the US from the fallout? If you want to go anywhere in the world, go quickly -- because if all that falls out, there will be open season on Americans -- and our troops will never be safe, not for a generation.

And perhaps worst of all for us -- the men and women who did the torturing will return to the USA, and live among us. Capable of the worst of mankind, and with no punishment, nothing to teach them humility and shame.

I also remember reading a blog, where a man recounted something his aunt and uncle had told him. They had fled Nazi Germany just before everything blew up. His aunt told him of reading Mein Kampf and thinking something like: "Why don't people realize where all this is heading?"

I have no biological children, but eventually youngsters in soft voices will ask Why we did nothing. And we'll have to tell them that we did everything up to and including 1 million of us marching in the street -- and all it proved was that money controls America, even when we try to elect a statesman.
