RIP writer Robert Holdstock
Robert Holdstock (1948-2009)
Best known as the author of MYTHAGO WOOD, which if you love fantasy you should read even if you didn't try the sequels (which while excellent stories are VERY dark stuff).
Robert died suddenly of a severe E. coli infection -- we're talking intensive care, multiple organ failure liver-kidneys-heart effected. A terrible way to die, and we lost him way too soon.
So don't think that E. coli is nothing. You can get away with not washing your hands in the restroom only if you are the only person you ever touch or are around. Because your E. coli may not play well with other E. coli.
Beware of E. coli that runs with scissors.
