Humorist Katherine Turski has written Confessions of a husband beater, about her talent for soundly defeating her beloved spouse at just about every game they play. I must admit her solution sounds like a good one! My Ex was not this fanatical about games (almost) but a friend once kept a bunch of us up until 4 am -- he refused to quit if he wasn't winning. Needless to say, I avoid those types of games with him, and if caught in one would set a time that I was bailing!
