In case you have missed this discussion -- here is a good explanation of why the cross-posting of "locked" links, whether the original post OR COMMENTS to it, should never, ever happen. I checked very carefully when I did the initial link between LJ and Facebook to make sure that locked posts never traveled across that link.
The minute I find out that a locked post has been violated, there won't be any more private posts, period. Only public ones. The public post link-up was a big help when I was not well enough to remember to go to multiple places. I would hate to see LJ outlive its usefulness, because then I'd have to go build a private blog. But that could happen.
