Is there a recommended order for reading these? I feel like this should be obvious, but when I was most recently looking online, I was confused. (I only ever owned one before, and it wasn't the first, and it's 2,400 miles away, or so I assume...)
I did a FAQ over on my web site about this -- the three books are designed to be stand-alones, ideally. When I wrote my third book, the editors asked if I could tie it closer to one of the previous books, since there is several thousand years between the first two written. So, I wrote the third one, HIDDEN FIRES, to take place ten years or so after FIRES OF NUALA. Some of the same characters appear, along with new characters.
But they are stand-alones. I wrote FIRE SANCTUARY first, then FIRES OF NUALA, and finally HIDDEN FIRES. People have read them in the order I wrote them, or chronologically by their internal dates (FoN, HF, FS) and most people recommend chronologically. So that is how I am releasing them!
HIDDEN FIRES will be next, and then FIRE SANCTUARY.
