The Urban Archipelago

I live on an island called Austin...I've been aware of it for years, actually. Here someone writes about what we knew on the one hand, but didn't know on the other.

It says a lot of the same things said in the previous link--but I think there's only one or two f*** ***s in the bunch. [VBG]

I actually found this through a conservative blog!

A good question. Does the writer mean it to be satire? Or is this one of those unfortunate things that you write, read, feel satisfied about, and then delete? And no one was around to say, "Fine, now delete that sucker!" for him.

Somehow I don't think that treating each other like dirt is going to solve anything. But hidden in here are some good ideas--like finding common threads in issues that do, truly, effect all of us.

I know writers who ended up in the emergency room of almost every city they visited while on tour--the air pollution got them. I keep thinking that if we don't require corporations who do this to clean up their mess, we'll end up doing it, and for a lot more money...

Which was why I suspected at least the possibility of satire. However, since I couldn't be sure, if it was satire, it failed. If it's not satire, he's an idiot.

I wonder what balance of letters he'll get from this? People suspecting satire, or people deadly serious?
