During my recovery I became hypersensitive to taking supplemental Vitamin C, and stopped it. I get fresh lemon juice every day, instead. Here's another study showing us that free radicals are not (at the least) the only reason aging sets in.

I hope that the healing caused by getting rid of gluten means I can have things like smoothies again. Until I started the pomegranate juice with lemon for the gelatin, I hadn't had fruit juice in years -- way too much something. Fruit juice, like pasta and bread, made me high, and then I fell asleep. Was going seriously hypoglycemic or something when I cut it all out.

That is some info on guava!
Lemons are still good for you because they are alkalinizing but don't rely on them for Vitamin C. I heard you have to eat like 10 or 20 lemons a day to get proper intake! You only have to eat 6-8 guavas! make sure you get the guava that are white on the inside. The strawberry guavas which are sweeter have less 70% less C. Basically, fruit used to contain a LOT of Vitamin C but people have started breeding fruit varieties to be sweeter and sweeter...and guess what? Fruit that contains the most vitamin C are sour. Fruit that tastes the most bland and sweet like banana have almost no C at all!
smoothies made with fruit juice or dairy base = sugar crash
My suggestion for a smoothie that will not make you all sugar crash:
base liquids: water (always works but isn't always tasty), almond milk (unsweet for creamier smoothie), or coconut water (for summer smoothies because it is cooling)
fruits: 2 whole guava + 2-3 rehydrated dried figs + a small handful of berries. If the figs don't work out, try rehydrating 2-3 medjool dates. (Just dump hot water to cover the figs or dates for about 20 min to about 1 hr. They rehydrate faster if you chop them up first.)
Trimmings: flax seed oil, some people actually put in lemon flav fish oil (yuck), ground up flax seed, mesquite powder (which has a sweet taste and balances blood sugar), etc...
Thickener: If you are sensitive to sugar, stay away from bananas! Cautiously try a small piece of pineapple, which is insanely sweet but it also has a lot of fiber to balance the sweet. Pineapple and a few kale leaves is a great combo! Half a small whole apple can thicken too! Try half an Avocado to thicken or maybe some custard apple if it comes back into season.
and I forgot Camu-Camu has a lot of vitamin C too (as well as a natural anti-depressant) but i don't recommend it soley as a Vitamin C source because the cost is prohibitively expensive! But you could get some powder and toss that in your smoothie too!

Last time I had dates mixed with Arzu and nuts and honey, I didn't fall asleep, but I wanted it too much, so won't make again. Pressed dates can put me to sleep for hours, but haven't tried for years.
I need to keep your recipe -- when I get back from AZ, I can try it to supplement my morning grains. I did read that the best thing to do macrobiotically is push back the first meal of the day, and make it something non-sweet (like miso.) I have Vega tea first most mornings, plus a shot of Aloe Vera concentrate (cherry berry I can stand the taste of, and also cheaper as a concentrate) but a smoothie when I'm going back to Real World work might be a good thing. Make packing a lunch easier!
Don't know Camu-camu, I'll have to look it up!
