A friend sent this along--This site has a simple narrative for those who do not find the concept of a father deity offensive--and it has some of the most beautiful nature photography I've ever seen. There is one picture of crashing waves that is unlike anything I have ever witnessed, on film or in person--take a look.

One of the big embarrassments about living in Texas is all the talk about "Family Values" without any investment by the state in the things that can make family values strong. This article came out last fall, and if you missed it, you might find it interesting:

"PRESIDENT Bush and Vice President Cheney make reference to 'Massachusetts liberals' as if they were referring to people with some kind of disease. I decided it was time to do some research on these people, and here is what I found."

Of course, part of the problem is that people get married too young down here. But that could be discouraged, if education became more important--I really believe that. You can't run a risk of starting a family until the degree or apprenticeship to help you make better money is in your hand.
