On cheating on term papers...the new culture

An adjunct professor and someone who supplies term papers to cheaters have a dialog. Why the students cheat, what they're willing to do to avoid the work, how they're caught -- interesting.

Sad.

Once I would have been appalled by this. I do think a lot of people don't understand plagiarism -- I know I didn't until maybe eighth grade. But once I did understand it, it didn't happen again. Now, sadly, I understand it better for intro classes especially, for classes required but never used again. Now, I momentarily found myself thinking that I could learn about a lot of things at other people's expense, and get paid for it.

Clearly, I've reached the point where I would consider ghost writing. Preferably not in my own field, but you never know.

This dip is because I got turned down for the insurance. They'll tell you why they turned you down -- but not if (nor how long you must be away from the problem) you could reapply with any hope of success.

OMG! I laughed so hard about the girl who was pissed off that she plagiarized someone else's plagiarized work and didn't know it.

Is it bad to ghost write? or just undesirable?

Awwww....such poop you got turned down! :(

Not so much bad to do as it takes up so much time and energy, there may be nothing left over for your own work. Creativity, and the ability to stare at a screen, are not limitless. We'll see how the summer goes.

Not sure if I will appeal. Appeals often work -- but if they give me the insurance at 100% of listed cost, then it's about what I pay now. Maybe better to stay with the same people, if I keep the insurance?

That was very interesting!

It was. Meg and I are talking about it over on Facebook -- ways to make paper writing relevant to encourage creative thinking and analysis, and produce people willing to reach out and examine other POV, as opposed to people trying to force everyone to be "just like me" (and then run for political office.)

writers block.. was thinking of you recently when I read a quote, I think from Octavia Butler.. interviewer asking how Butler suggests writers get through a block? "Fall in love. You're alraedy miserable, so why not?" (or words to that effect)

O_o

Well, that would be a novel way to go about things! We need to keep shoveling here and at your place before I try that path!

Any interest in 24 hour later? I am actually writing!
