I have neglected my children, but you can help
This is a post for Live Journal, and it's about stuff I don't discuss casually. We're talking about the nitty gritty of carving out a new life for myself. But if you have a moment, you can improve my situation.
I did a PR push for my Nuala books in October. Special sales prices, interviews, Bargain Kindle of the Day -- they had attention paid to them, and sales started to climb. Then my father entered his last illness. I dropped all the threads and ran to family's rescue. So the PR push for Nuala stumbled. I'm now two months behind on finishing the Allie book (75% written -- the end is almost in throwing distance!)
In order for me to write, sort possessions madly and find another place to live, plus do a resume and find a job, I'm going to have to ignore the rankings at Amazon. It's a stress I don't need. But I could use the money sales would send my way.
There's one thing that you can do that would be very helpful to me. Write an Amazon review for Fires of Nuala. Why this book? Because it has eleven reviews, and a book needs twenty (that's right, 20) reviews to show up automatically in the "If you liked XX, you might like YY" listings. This is free publicity, folks. I need to take advantage of it.
It doesn't have to be a tome. One of my favorite reviews was done for Kindred Rites by a fan named Pam. She said: "I love these books, Night Calls and Kindred Spirits. I have read them over and over and I don't think I have ever read anything similar. I hope she writes more - they are a unique vision of our country when it was young.
Parts of her books are genuinely creepy. I don't think I'll ever look at a loose post in a field the same way - much less disturb one!"
Just a few words, and a five star review. Thank you, Pam!
Do you like the Nuala books? Want to see any other books by me? This can help. All reviews of each book help, even at B&N and Powell's. But the Nuala books at Amazon make me money, and Fires needs the fewest to reach twenty.
If you have an Amazon account, go do a four or five star review for this book. It will be the best holiday gift you can give one of your writers!
I won't ask again. But I will post when a review goes up, so if you see the countdown, you'll know we're close! If you have time, hit all the books. But this one will reach twenty reviews fastest. It will be a Live Journal December secret. (Well, it was going to be -- but the option to turn off the Facebook pass-through has disappeared at the bottom of the post. Now that's a problem. So I will put it behind a MORE tag.)
Thanks for your attention, and all your kindness. And now -- it's Allie's turn again.

It will happen or it won't, but I've got to move on to the next book.

"Non-Traditionally Published Books: Self-published works, electronically-exclusive books, books from micro presses, books released outside the usual environs of the publishing world, and so on. "
"1. Authors and editors of non-traditionally published books only. This includes comics and graphic novels, as well as non-fiction books. If your book has been traditionally published — available in bookstores on a returnable basis — post about your book in the thread that went up yesterday (if you are in doubt, assume you are non-traditionally published and post here). If you are a creator in another form or medium, your thread is coming tomorrow. Don’t post if you are not the author or editor, please."

It's COLD here -- the thermal underwear is needed! Hope you are warm!

Winter started fairly late this year for Bavaria, admittedly.

The true hallmark of climate change -- extreme temperature swings.
