The Adult Brain Continues to Learn -- A Lot!

A study that suggests adults can completely retrain, and their brains will absorb and use the knowledge. This is to the point of enlarging the brain, specifically the hippocampus.

Off topic: I'm down with a cold and rereading Allie for comfort. Any chance that those two books will become available in e-form?

Well, I haven't announced it, because I haven't talked with my agent about it. But when book three is done, my agent gets some time to sell it. But while he's doing that, and I am also working on other things, I will also be copy editing the ms. of NIGHT CALLS, and KINDRED RITES. So they will either be ready to be sold in a package with SPIRIT TRACKS, or they'll be ready to turn into ebooks.

I'm guessing I will know fairly quickly if the editor who wanted to see it plans to make an offer for it. So...I will be aiming for ebook releases next Christmas, if NYC doesn't respond favorably.

We may have to see if I can do a better job selling Allie than they did. I am going to start building an Alfreda WordPress site, either way.

This all depends on what kind of job I find (or not, universe forbid) and my time allotments. But I am thinking about an ebook version, at least from Book View Cafe.

By the way --

My life became demented this fall, but I have a memory of your thinking about some experiments with lifestyle and health? How's that going?

Sort of a zig-zag! Allergies have taken a quantum leap into an asthma bout this summer that got major by fall. I think that that blasted Lyme really screwed up my immune system!
I resent having to become a fanatic house keeper, welded to my vacuum, but the least hint of dust currently closes up the system. I have caught myself musing wistfully about Haz-Mat suits!

With the current streaming cold I Have discovered that Argan oil actually soothes the red nose, as well as being a great skin moisturizer, and dry cuticle softener. You might check it out!
In Kindred Rites you mention Verterkake - what is it? I am sure that anything Allie or her mother cooked has to be really good.

Here's to hoping for a healthy holiday for all.

I was hesitating whether to unmask this, but I figured we were vague enough that no one would know what we were talking about. Sorry to hear that cleaning has become a PITA. Gluten is the RITA for me -- the slightest amount kicks off inflammation. So, off to find more cookbooks to tempt me into permanent eradication of gluten/inflammation.

http://danielsbreadblog.blogspot.com/2008/11/verterkake.html

I found this on-line. Beard on Bread has a recipe, which was what I was thinking about when I mentioned Allie's family recipe -- a beer bread made sense to me in a Scandinavian family.

A lot of the early recipes are things I could no longer tweak to make my own and taste -- I'll have to find volunteers to eat the samples, if I make a special Allie cookbook!

I'm too far away to taste test your cooking - but if you want a recipe tester I volunteer.

I'll definitely ask on LJ if that ever becomes a reality! Thanks for offering.
