*Grumble*

Is anyone else having trouble tracking things in the new Gmail system? My categories are no longer staying together, and things are sliding out of sight much too quickly.

I really don't want to get myself a new form of mail, but I'm starting to drown, here....

I've been lucky so far - every time it has changed me to the new layout, I've been able to hit the "switch back to the old layout temporarily" option.

Have you considered using a client like Thunderbird for your email? You can use a web-based account, but access it through a client on your home computer, which you can customize as much as you like. Thunderbird is the mail client analogue to Firefox for a browser (like Outlook and Internet Explorer).

I used Thunderbird for a while, and TWICE it dumped ALL my mail. Never found it again. I think I may just break down and join an online place that really screens mail and gives you a ton of storage for $5 a month.

Google is chasing me away....

I tried it for a day. There's a place to leave feedback when you switch back and I left the most clinical nasty-gram I could.

It's awful.

I like most of the changes. What do you mean by "categories"?

I use the labels section to keep track of over fifty categories. But now, messages are coming in differently, so they don't recognize each other anymore, and are no longer together until I pull up that label alone. So I may not recognize something right away as an old conversation.
