Well, Yes, it IS a War on Women...

Writer Elizabeth Moon on the escalating War on Women. Not sure this is a war? Think about your daughters, your sisters, the women you love -- and think about them having a doctor who decided to lie to them about their ongoing pregnancy, telling them that all was well when not only was all not well, but the fetus is dying and the woman endangered. But the doctor's religion forbids abortion for any reason. So s/he doesn't tell you a thing.

Think about your daughter having endometriosis and needing contraceptives to keep that encroaching disease in check. And not only can her employer deny her insurance company the ability to pay for the contraceptives -- her employer can fire her for using contraceptives.

Yet Viagra is deemed medically necessary.

The next step? If an employer hires only women who do not use birth control, they'll end up with a lot of pregnant women. So there will be medical leave. The employers will either hire women who are past childbearing years, or they won't hire women.

Won't that be jolly?

Recently I was listening to Rush Limbaugh defend himself from his comment on the law student.

While it was just clips, it struck me that I've never heard female Republicans stand up and defend the things that go on. Of course, I've never heard them CONDEMN them either.

I'm not sure where to go with this, but I find it fascinating.

There are always people who would like to stuff the genie back into the bottle.

Doesn't work.

Doesn't mean they aren't clicking their heels and saying "There's No Place Like Home."

I heard Elizabeth Warren speak a couple of weeks ago. She lead off with a few comments on the battles that we thought were over and won decades ago. Got an enthusiastic round of applause (standing) too - even from the older men in the room.

She is impressive, I hope that she gets into the senate.

From what I've seen of Elizabeth Warren, and her ability to teach & communicate, I'd vote for her in a heartbeat.

I think the GOP Congress will rue the day they blocked her appointment for the post Obama had her up for. She's going to be a lot more trouble for them as a rising star in the Senate.
