So much for Babelfish....

Well, cannot find my Japanese-English dictionary, and went to see what Babel fish would do with what I wanted. A Chinese translation would be acceptable, too.

Babel fish is now the Bing translator.

I got tiles. I know this is probably much more accurate for someone who is a native speaker trying to write an English concept, but I was kinda hoping for an actual word/metaphor I could use in a story.

Must find dictionary. Or perhaps use Sanskrit.

For now, I will stick with "reader of time."

At least he's respectful! ;^) Thanks for Jeffrey's link -- [livejournal.com profile] tylik is so generous with her time and knowledge, but I hate to impose, and sometimes at 1 am I need something to shove into a slot while continuing a scene.

Wish I was better about writing "(word)" and going on, but words, THE word, is so important -- entire plot points can change around words.

This blasted short story is trying to become a novel. I guess my subconscious wants to do another Nuala book, and is giving me a lot of back story for this new character.

oh, words DO matter! I used Jeffrey to try to figure out HeyGirl's name, she came to me as Tzarina and that just wasn't right, so I went looking for Asian theme names ... in the end, she was too scared of being an Empress of any flavor, so she gets the cooing "hey girl... it's ok" name :)
