I love my neighborhood

I was in the office talking with an associate on the phone, when suddenly I saw out my French door a black potbellied pig walking through my side yard (where the labyrinth will go...). He was followed by a tall, slender woman with three towheaded children. The novelty was such I went out to find out why they were walking him through my yard, and not in the street. Turns out they were "pig herding, sort of..." They thought he belonged to one of the houses over on the other side of our corner, and that he was an escapee--so they were encouraging him to go home. He, not sure about people he didn't know following so closely, was definitely meandering with purpose.

For those who have never seen a real potbellied pig, they are the size of a medium-height dog, and as broad as they're tall. They are longer, however, but I didn't get close enough to find out how long--I was still on the wireless, and it only goes so far. Am I positive it was a real PBP? No--but it fit every description I've ever heard of one.

I knew we had two pygmy goats a few streets down, but was unaware of the pig. Clearly, I need to walk up toward the dead end occasionally...

I love my neighborhood. But I am grateful it's only one pig. I've been downwind of a pig farm, and it's just as bad as you can imagine, being that they're omnivores.

Wish I'd had the camera handy!
