Finally, an answer...I'm an Ambivert!

When you come out right on the center line between introvert and extrovert, you're left wondering where you fit in.

This article pretty much describes me.

How about you? Are you introvert, extrovert, or somewhere in-between?

The person who wrote this has a very poor understanding of Meyers Brigg and very poor understanding of introversion and extroversion. Meyers Brigg simply identifies your archetype behavioural pattern and is not "who you are". Anybody who says your MBTI is who you are is using it incorrectly.

I notice she doesn't identify what her MBTI is. I find people who are dissatisfied with what MBTI gives them often try to do this grey area thing. I know because I was guilty once of it myself trying to understand why I seemed to test INTP sometimes when I am INFP. The F does not mean I don't do rational thinking, it's just not my default or strength. Likewise introversion does not mean you never do extroverted things. Also MBTI takes ambiverts into hidden consideration. Some types like ISTP will be more ambivert-ed.....

This is one of the best introverted articles I have read in a bit:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/20/introverts-signs-am-i-introverted_n_3721431.html?utm_hp_ref=mostpopular

It really describes the full gamut. I like the example of Lady Gaga, who is a rock star, is able to cavort with and sing in front of millions of fans but is an introvert. Introverts usually have no trouble with public speaking or performing despite what most introversion articles will go on about.

I had to teach myself to speak in public; I used to nearly faint at it. If you want something badly enough, you figure out how to do it.

I'll try to get to this today, thanks. Is it her lack of documentation you don't like, or do you think the word doesn't have enough evidence? I'm not always happy being an INTJ and borderline on several points, but there you are...play to your strengths.

I don't "like" public speaking or performing but i can do it. I required much training just like you. Do i like it? no. Rarely do people like it unless they are mega-extroverted. People who have Introverted thinking as their TOP skill like ISTP will have a horrible time at it, even worse than you because their first reaction is to stay quiet and keep opinions to one's self. They have to override that reflex first. I want to say for INTJ, it's 4th on the list...so it's hard but not impossible. It's dead last for INFP's like me.

No, it's not lack of documentation because personal opinion and experience are worthy of being written about IMHO. Basically the person who is writing this comes across as annoyed that her MBTI classification is not a 100% fit because maybe she took a crap test or falsfied info on her test (unintentionally or intentionally). So she says, because her final answer is crap...therefore MBTI sucks and is useless! So let's just create a new category so I can feel like a special snowflake. This is faulty reasoning. This test and personality model works well to describe so many people.

If you read all of the descriptors of Ambiverts in the article, it's pretty much the same as introverts. Whoever this person is is an introvert who doesn't understand themselves at all.

I find INFP does not describe me 100% but is close enough and I'm satisfied. It doesn't acknowledge my logical/rational thinking prowess which bothers me but doesn't irk me as much when you come to understand the MBTI is not the end all be all. It is a approximate model. That is the best way to look at it. If you look at a Neils Bohr model of an atom...they still teach it like that in school: a nucleus with some electrons floating around it on wire-like paths. That's NOT what an atom really looks like. It's an approximation. Is it still useful? hell yes!

For further personality experience, do you feel that your enneagram type describes you better than MBTI? I'm a 4w5 and it is very accurate for me.
Some people prefer the enneagram model over the MBTI. Again, it's just another model that describes behaviour. I REPEAT it is NOT who you are!

Some people like to be all contrary and don't want to be "boxed" and i get that, but it's really just "special snowflake syndrome". It's something i have to police about myself as well.

Never taken an enneagram eval.

A friend encouraged me to try Ansir, which was interesting.

if you find a free ansir test, let me know because i want to take it too.

Haven't checked lately--she let me go in and take it on the account she had at the time. You might find the books at Half Price?
