Locals--If you check online for a doctor, etc., where do you check?

CitySearch?

Yelp?

Yahoo!?

Somewhere else?

I know most of us either ask friends or check who is on our insurance, but people new to town or without insurance need a source, too. I'm helping my doctor bring his online pointers into the 21st century.

Suggestions?

Consumer Reports has an online service for subscribers. Two lists - one is doctors recommended by other doctors, the other is recommended by patients.

Interesting, and good to know. I don't currently have a subscription, but I'll see what I can find out. Thanks for mentioning!

I put limited stock in Yelp, Google, etc, although I will look at them. At least a basic website is also a must.

He has one. I don't like it--doc in a box.

He remembers when there were Google words, and this brought in lots of business. But Google words are no more, and I know of nothing that will pull business like that. It takes hard work and constant media attention now. He doesn't want to do it, or pay for it. He's trying click-through, which I think is crap--I tried to warn him. Fortunately he got a very short contract.

He'll probably decide in a month or so that I've done all I can for him, but at least I will have consolidated all his listings. He's an outstanding chiropractor and nutritionist, I rec him to lots of people. Sadly, good doesn't seem to be enough in any business right now.
