For the curious...BMI

Dr. Hall has a mess of calculators on his web site, and uses multiple ways to figure BMI, breast cancer risk, etc.

Here's the index:

And breast cancer risk:

aha. just curious - is it all carbs, or just those? have you tried the more exotic grains like quinoa, amaranth, or spelt? Lyme disease was a serious problem where I grew up - we had to have regular talks about it in school, and there were commercials/PSAs on TV about it all the time.

As for the weight, well if some asshat hadn't swiped my bike, I think I'd have those last 20 off by the end of the summer. Now I need a new bike.

Compensating...

Part of the bloat is just intolerance for various carbs--the rest is blood sugar, which is also Lyme related. I get almost drunk on them, then fall asleep hard--and I mean hard, I have maybe a two-minute warning, and then I could wreck a car. Snap awake 20 minutes later. I do get trace amounts of amaranth in nut bars I can eat, but that's it for grains. I do things like eat pappadum at Indian restaurants, etc. I get crunch deprived. I can have fruits and veggies, nuts and seeds. And meat, thank heavens. No shellfish, but I had that problem before (and also no mushrooms, sigh.)

Now I need a new bike.

Is real new in budget, or are you going to check out the pawn shops? Good luck--

hmm. I had a roommate who did a similar thing in college. Sugar, wheat, and rice would get him drunk as a sailor. He'd drink rum just to get extra drunk.

Newy new WAS in the budget, but now that my truck is kaput I'll have to settle for pawn shopping. I may try freecycle before I go to the pawn shop though.
