The Continuing Adventures of Cthulhu Central: A Sacrifice

The house has taken a sacrifice.

Every other time, we could convince ourselves that it was bad luck, or carelessness. The Shaman had several game pieces--mere tokens, but of value to him--disappear. I had my favorite cutter, a ceramic mouse blade, commit suicide behind a heavy piece of furniture. The Iceman had mail go missing for several days the moment I removed it from protective seals.

These things happen.

But I witnessed--or did not witness--the last incident. Hurricane Man was toying with a small item, tossing it in the air as some are wont to do. At one point, he missed, and the metal token pinged once as it hit something firm...

And then silence.

We tore the living room apart. We searched all the way into the adjoining rooms. We even checked our pockets and the tops of our shoes. Nothing.

Cue Twilight Zone music.

The Wizard does not speak.

Look under the microwave. That's where mysteriously vanished things like this go in my vicinity. It at an entire set of game notes for the better part of a day once (the day being, of course, the day of the game they were fore).

Not a bad hiding hole, but we got a new one for the house recently. No one under there!

Your Hob obviously has not been properly propitiated for a while. He is trying to get your attention. Perhaps a good single malt in addition to his saucer of cream?

The problem is, I moved into this place and did not want to seem critical of how things are done. So I'm not in charge--except I am trying to get the Tikis and animal masks properly hung to help with protections for the house.

I am wondering if the house spirits are mad that the owner has been gone for so long.

On second thought - perhaps some of those Icelandic trolls have emigrated -Christmas is the time that they reportedly come into houses.
In which case - leave out salt cod and Aquavit!

It's a ghost, one we think is irritated with Hurricane Man. I think the item will return eventually!
