Hurry on this one, if you aren't a NY Times member--free links go away fast.
I just saw this article last night. It's by NY Times columnist Ron Suskind, in this weekend's magazine--"Without a Doubt". I find this deeply troubling. There is apparently no humility in our president's brand of Christianity. Bush 41 may be regretting his "intervention". I almost hesitate showing this to people, except if we must know this about our president, we should know NOW, before the election--so we can try and convince Bush 43 supporters to at least go neutral. Ever since I found out that abortions go UP when Pro-Lifers are in office, I've been a little off kilter, here. I will be poking around to research Suskind's article, but he's been sound in my experience.

Without a Doubt
By RON SUSKIND
New York Times
What makes Bush's presidency so radical even to some Republicans is his preternatural, faith-infused certainty in uncertain times.
(Excerpt)
"'This is why George W. Bush is so clear-eyed about Al Qaeda and the Islamic fundamentalist enemy. He believes you have to kill them all. They can't be persuaded, that they're extremists, driven by a dark vision. He understands them, because he's just like them. . . .
"''This is why he dispenses with people who confront him with inconvenient facts,'' Bartlett went on to say. ''He truly believes he's on a mission from God. Absolute faith like that overwhelms a need for analysis. The whole thing about faith is to believe things for which there is no empirical evidence.'' Bartlett paused, then said, ''But you can't run the world on faith.''"

This is the first time I've felt it was my duty as a believer in a supreme being to warn people that my president is doing things I consider....Wrong. It's going beyond bad politics, here, or difference of opinion on economic style or the environment. It's even gone beyond Guantanamo or Iraq prisons. It's the health, safety and moral center of all Americans for the next generation. Something else, too, that I can't bring myself to type--too dramatic. But maybe my sifting brain can remember to tell anyone who asks.
Thanks for at least considering looking.
