Are liberals living in the brainland, as opposed to the heartland? Well--I won't yield either, thanks, just as I'm not yielding my god....

From Randy Paul's blog at www.Beautifulhorizons.net, quote "An atypical gringo's and a proud member of the Reality-based Community's perspective on Latin America, human rights and other issues".

"Ach," says Oliver James, the clinical psychologist. "I was too depressed to even speak this morning. I thought of my late mother, who read Mein Kampf when it came out in the 1930s and thought, 'Why doesn't anyone see where this is leading?'"

"Peace used be the opposite of war, Conservative used to mean the tendency to conserve resources. Liberal used to mean kind and generous, and Christian used to mean like Christ.

"So I am no longer a christian but just a person who continues trying to follow the example of Christ. I’ll let him call me what he wants when I see him face to face. Until then, I will pray that someday people like me will be able to reclaim the meaning of Christ’s identity, and the world will see the effects of the radical message of Christ‘s love--the perfect love that casts out fear."

No Longer a Christian

Sorry, that's pompous--but this will be my new creed, I hope. We need a new battle plan--here's one of mine.

Some conservatives do hate liberals--for what reason, I don't know since I've never bothered to ask them (though I probably ought to have).

This was posted as a comment in another live journal recently. I think it's a fine hook for me to hang my last (I hope) post related specifically to the election, as opposed to politics in general.

Winning the center one heart at a time )

www.AndrewSullivan.com is a blog--a blog by a socially liberal, fiscally conservative gay man with HIV. When I said I read across the spectrum, I do--he writes well, and struggles to see both sides of an issue, while explaining his own POV.

After much soul-searching, Sullivan voted for Kerry. He remains a die-hard conservative (read "hawk"), who thinks Iraq was the right thing to do, but that Bush has handled it badly. Sullivan fears it will head south from there.

So, if you want to start your reading with a bridge, Andrew isn't a bad one. Lots of good links, and there's a subscriber service if you want things hot off the press.

"If you happen to be working on some creative writing project, post exactly one sentence from each of your current work(s) in progress in your journal."

Pinched from a lot of people )

Go see it!

THE INCREDIBLES is great fun, with multiple layers hidden in a well-written script (part of why Pixar keeps having home runs, in my opinion) and some awesome new techniques-- The hair on the daughter immediately caught my eye, and the fabrics! Wow! Great water, great...

See the film. If you like animation, if you like family comedy-drama--if you've liked any of Pixar's films (like Bug's Life, etc.)
