Well, we had rain, and cooking, and reading – I read my first Spenser novel in years tonight, they go fast – and got through to Girl Genius briefly. There was a boardwalk trek, and learning how to play SEQUENCE (not bad – you can either concentrate or talk to others through it. Good for groups where the distraction level is high.) Saw family from another state for cocktails/nibbles, which was very nice – overlapping with cousins and surviving uncles/aunts is one of the best things about the cottage area. Due to the rain and the onset of fog, the fireworks were canceled in our local berg. We drove through thickening fog to Ludington, only to get caught in a parade of cars heading deeper into fog. The number of vehicles returning on the same path were not encouraging; finally, we yelled out to someone walking back from the pier and found out the fireworks had, as we feared, been canceled. So we trekked back to the highway, and ultimately, the cottage.
Boston Pops were on – always good fireworks! Not as good as in person, but still, a pleasant ending to the day.
